2023 Apprenticeship Awards

Shannon made excellent progress with her apprenticeship despite the complications of being furloughed whilst the store she was working at was closed during the pandemic.

Notwithstanding this set-back she made good progress at her workplace gaining promotion to a supervisory role with managerial responsibility. It has not been easy for Shannon, she has overcome a number of personal hurdles that might have derailed a less determined person.

Shannon has gained a lot of confidence and self-esteem as a result of completing her apprenticeship, she has some difficulties at school but the apprenticeship programme along with Shannon’s own grit and determination has enabled her to start her career with Yours Clothing.

During the pandemic Nikka, along with many others, was placed on the Furlough scheme by her previous employer. Unfortunately, upon returning to her workplace, Nikka was then made redundant.

Fortunately Nikka eventually found employment with ICS Ltd, this gave her the opportunity to complete her Diploma in Warehouse & Storage Level 3 Apprenticeship. She has shown fortitude and determination to succeed whilst looking after her children and family during a difficult period.

In her new role Nikka is considered a valuable member of staff with positive comments being made about her professionalism and commitment to work.

Nikka’s employers say she’s been a valuable addition to the company in that she was able to carry out a range of roles to the satisfaction of the company.
