The Institution of Mechanical Engineers was established in 1847 and has some of the world’s greatest engineers in its history books. It is one of the fastest growing professional engineering institutions. Headquartered in London, we have operations around the world and over 115,000 members in more than 140 countries working at the heart of the most important and dynamic industries such as the automotive, rail, aerospace, medical, power and construction industries.

We work with schools and young people to inspire the next generation of engineers. Activities such as career fairs, events and competitions are held with our STEM ambassadors on hand to share their experience and knowledge.

With about 3,000 members in our area, the Merseyside & North Wales region of the IMechE actively supports STEM initiatives. In addition to sponsoring awards we provide support to students in schools and colleges who are considering a career in engineering.
