Congratulations Enlli Jones!

The nominees for this award were:

Cameron Griffith, Gwyn Thomas and Co Limited, Pwllheli

Cameron Griffith

Gwyn Thomas and Co Limited

Cameron Griffiths will remember the age of 22 for very good reasons. He was part of a team that won a bronze medal at the Wales Inspiring Skills Accounting competition, passed his examinations, became a father for the first time, moved house and passed his driving test.

Having achieved a AAT Level 3 accountancy qualification, he is now making good progress with the AAT Level 4 and has taken on responsibility for preparing and submitting VAT returns and completing more complex accounts.

Cameron joined Gwyn Thomas and Co Limited in September 2021 on the Jobs Growth Wales programme looking for a fresh start and has impressed with his adaptability and aptitude to work accurately and quickly with good attention to detail.

His boss Gwyn Thomas predicts that Cameron could be doing his job in the future!

Accounting Lauren Harrap Tyson

Lauren Harrap Tyson

Bennet Brooks

Lauren Harrap Tyson was a member of the Grŵp Llandrillo Menai team that won a silver medal at the Wales Inspiring Skills accounting competition and qualified for the WorldSkills UK final. Inspired by those experiences, she plans to compete again in 2024.

Her professional approach to learning and the progress she has made have been described as outstanding and she willingly supports her classmates.

Lauren achieved her AAT Level 3 with merit and is now working towards the Level 4 qualification. A valued employee of Bennet Brooks in Llandudno, she is responsible for personal tax returns, with plans to promote her to a personal tax senior post when she qualifies.

In addition to overseeing client billing, she is training a new member of staff.

Enlli Jones

Cyngor Gwynedd

Not only did Enlli Jones take on the task of achieving an AAT Level 2 qualification, but she had to overcome the challenge of understanding the English only terminology associated with accounting.

Enlli has been educated through the medium of Welsh and has embraced the challenge of studying the English language AAT curriculum, ideveloping her knowledge of the terminology and confidence to speak English, whilst continuing to converse in Welsh in class with peers.

Her dedication to both her job and the qualification have been reflected in the high marks she has achieved.

Enlli is always willing to take on additional tasks in Gwynedd Council’s finance team and her progress and development are said to be far more advanced than expected at this point of her apprenticeship.
