Nathaniel Evans

Babcock International Group

Although Nathaniel Evans has a lack of self confidence, he possesses the rare ability to explain complex engineering activities in a way that non-engineers can understand.

Nathaniel works for Babcock International Group at RAF Valley where he has gained experience in a number of departments. Described as an “inquisitive learner”, he asks the right questions and lots of them.

Nathanial excels when working with tools which allows him to display his impressive technical knowledge and passion for engineering which he shares during school visits to the company and at Careers Wales events.

He has also worked on a Babcock project in Nuneaton, attracting praise for his contributions to design and manufacturing processes.

Osian Roberts

IAQ Ltd

Osian Roberts has been described as a “one in a million” apprentice by his assessor. Within three weeks of joining manufacturer IAQ Ltd, he was running a section alone and also competed in the CNC turning category at the WorldSkills UK national final in November.

A third-year apprentice, he is studying for a Higher National Certificate in General Engineering alongside his role as a CNC turning centre operator for IAQ.

Osian will compete at the WorldSkills UK national final as the first engineering apprentice to represent Grŵp Llandrillo Menai at this stage of the prestigious competition. Having won a bronze medal at Skills Competition Wales earlier this year, despite being unfamiliar with the software used in the competition.

Carl Kammerling International

David Evans has made an impressive contribution to Carl Kammerling International since joining the warehouse team.

Having achieved a Foundation Apprenticeship in Warehousing and Storage and the IOSH Managing Safely qualification, he has now progressed to an Apprenticeship.

He joined the wholesaler as an apprentice warehouse operative, having previously worked in retail organisations. He was soon chosen to represent the warehouse team on the company’s Health and Safety committee and has contributed to risk assessments and Safe Systems of Work.

David jumped at an opportunity to join the company’s warehouse export team and is working towards his Certificate in Export Operations. His employer says David’s development and enthusiasm sets a great example to his warehouse colleagues
