Donna Pugh-Jones

Ysgol Santes Fair

Donna Pugh-Jones has been transformed from a dinner lady to a confident and proactive teaching assistant at Ysgol Santes Fair in Holyhead after completing an Apprenticeship in Support Teaching and Learning in Schools.

With support from her tutor and school staff, she has developed a love of learning, particularly mathematics and digital skills which she now puts to good use in the classroom to support pupils.

She has inspired others to undertake the qualification at the school and all her colleagues speak highly of her positive attitude.

Donna admits that the qualification had taken her out of her comfort zone, boosted her self-confidence and given her a wide range of skills, which she is always keen to share.

Ceri Tait

Ysgol Maes Y Felin

Ceri Tait joined Ysgol Maes Y Felin as a teaching assistant at the beginning of 2022 and is working towards an Apprenticeship in Support Teaching and Learning in Schools.

Because Ceri is dyslexic, her learning programme has been adapted by her tutor to suit her needs. She provides one to one support for two pupils and has developed a good relationship with them and their parents.

Enthusiastic and dedicated, she goes above and beyond to support her colleagues and pupils. She coaches a girl’s football team at weekends and supports after school activities for the children.

Headteacher David Thomas describes Ceri as a key member of staff, a fantastic role model and highly effective teaching assistant.

Eboney Riordan

Ysgol Maesglas

Eboney Riordan joined Ysgol Maesglas as a teaching assistant from the Jobs Growth Wales Plus programme on which she achieved Levels 1 and 2 Sports Coaching qualifications and gained important knowledge about working in schools.

Gill Lloyd from Ysgol Maesglas says Eboney has proved herself to be adaptable, hardworking, eager to learn and improve and adept at forging strong working relationships with colleagues and pupils alike.
