Maddison Apprenticeship award shortlisted candidate

Maddison Goode

Ysgol Porth y Felin

Maddison Goode has landed her dream job working with children in a primary school after being supported by the Welsh Government’s Jobs Growth Wales programme.

Maddison joined the programme in October 2023, whilst also providing additional support to her family at home and was described as a quiet but excellent learner. Due to her caring nature and desire to work with children, a placement was secured for her at Ysgol Porth y Felin, Conwy at the start of 2024.

She impressed the school so much within the first six months that she was given a part-time role, providing one to one support to a pupil. Following the summer holiday, Maddison began a permanent position to start her career.

Her tutor praised Maddison’s diligence, attendance and high standard of work which she maintained despite her family commitments.

Bailey Wynne, North Wales Work Based Learning Awards

Bailey Wynne

The Welsh Government’s Jobs Growth Wales programme has helped Bailey Wynne secure a job in the construction industry in North Wales after impressing tutors with desire to learn.

He joined the programme in May 2023, having just moved away from home and going through a lot of personal challenges. Described by his tutors as the “cheeky chappy” of the group, Bailey preferred hands-on experience to paperwork and was focused on gaining experience on a construction site.

Progressing to the Advancement strand of the programme to complete his Employment qualification, he eventually managed to secure a placement with a local contractor working across North Wales.

When the placement ended, Bailey soon snapped up a job and is progressing well. His tutor describes him as “a very dedicated and hard working young man”.

Daniel, Apprenticeship award shortlisted candidate

Daniel Brown

Dan Brown has overcome various personal challenges to achieve his mission of turning his life around to make his son proud of him.

With help from the Welsh Government’s Jobs Growth Wales programme, which he joined in July 2023, he has since secured hotel work in Llandudno.

He supported fellow learners on the programme to push themselves and mentored new members. Progressing to the Advancement strand of the programme, he completed the Level 1 Employability qualification whilst applying for jobs in Llandudno.

His dedication paid off when he secured the hotel job, at which he is excelling.

He is now providing for his son, underlining his personal and professional progress.

“Dan has faced many challenges in his life but has battled through and come out the other side with a qualification and a job,” said his tutor.
